Our story
From our family's kitchen in Lebanon to your bathroom in Australia.
Where it began
A plain bar by every sink.
Olive oil soap is part of everyday life in Lebanon. The coastal city of Tripoli has been making it for centuries, and in plenty of Lebanese homes the same simple bar sits by every sink.
Our family has made soap this way for as long as we can remember. It is what we washed with, what we packed for relatives overseas, and what friends kept asking us to bring back. Yanni Soap is our way of sharing it properly with Australia.
We still make every batch ourselves, in Lebanon, by hand. Then we bring the bars to Melbourne and send them out to customers right across the country. When you order from us, a real person packs your soap, and if you write to us, a real person writes back.
How it's made
Slow soap, made by hand.
No factory line. Just good oil, a few ingredients and patience.
Start with olive oil
Every bar begins with pure olive oil. It is the base of all five soaps and makes up most of each bar.
Mix in small batches
We combine the oil with water and lye, which starts saponification: the reaction that turns oil into soap and natural glycerin. Coconut, shea, aloe, avocado or charcoal go in here.
Pour, set and cut
The soap is poured, left to set, then cut into bars by hand and stamped with the Yanni name.
Cure slowly
The bars rest while water evaporates and the soap becomes harder, milder and longer lasting. This step cannot be rushed.
Bring it to Australia
Cured bars travel from Lebanon to Melbourne, where we pack and post every order ourselves.
